The Role of In-Line Twin-Drive Melt Pumps in Fluoroplastic Production

2026-07-03

In the production of fluoroplastics, materials typically exhibit characteristics such as high temperature, high viscosity, and strong corrosiveness, placing high demands on the material selection, sealing design, gear meshing precision, and continuous operational stability of melt conveying equipment. If the pump body material, gear structure, or selection parameters do not match the actual operating conditions, issues such as corrosion-induced leakage, pressure fluctuations, unstable metering, and accelerated wear of pump components are likely to occur, which in turn affect pelletizing, filtration, die extrusion, and the stability of subsequent production processes.

For special melt conveyance applications such as fluoroplastics, Tianjin Ruicheng Pump Industry offers an Inconel 718 same-side dual-drive melt pump solution. This pump utilizes Inconel 718 nickel-based alloy, which offers excellent high-temperature resistance, corrosion resistance, and fatigue resistance, making it suitable for complex media environments such as acids, alkalis, sulfur-containing materials, and high-temperature melts. Compared to conventional stainless steel materials, Inconel 718 helps enhance operational reliability in highly corrosive fluoroplastic conveying scenarios and reduces the risk of downtime caused by corrosion, oxidation, or material failure.

In terms of structural design, the same-side dual-drive melt pump employs a “one-to-two” synchronous drive configuration from the gearbox, in which the gearbox simultaneously drives the two conveying gears inside the pump. Unlike traditional gear drive structures with one driving gear and one driven gear, this configuration maintains an optimal working clearance between the two conveying gears rather than relying on direct meshing for power transmission, thereby reducing gear-face squeezing wear and issues caused by unilateral stress. For materials such as fluoroplastics—which are highly corrosive, operate at high temperatures, and present complex conveying conditions—the same-side dual-drive structure helps improve gear operational stability, mitigate wear during long-term operation, and extend the service life of critical components.

At the same time, combined with precision gear machining, proper clearance control, and appropriate sealing methods, the same-side dual-drive melt pump can provide pressure boosting, pressure stabilization, and metered conveying during the fluoroplastic pelletizing process, ensuring a more continuous melt supply to the downstream screen-changing and filtration systems, die heads, and pelletizing stages. Stable melt pressure and flow help reduce output fluctuations caused by upstream extrusion variations, changes in filtration resistance, or uneven material flow, thereby improving pellet formation stability and production continuity.

For applications such as fluoroplastic pelletizing, fine chemicals, new energy materials, and other special fluid transfer conditions, the selection of a melt pump should not be based solely on displacement volume; it must also be determined through a comprehensive assessment that considers material viscosity, temperature, corrosiveness, inlet pressure, outlet pressure, speed range, heating method, and continuous operation requirements. Rui Cheng Pump Industry can provide customized selection support—including material, seals, heating methods, connection sizes, and drive configurations—based on the customer’s on-site operating conditions, offering equipment solutions that are better suited for the conveyance of high-temperature, high-viscosity, and corrosive melts.
